Project: Humanity creates opportunities for young people to express themselves creatively, explore social issues using drama, and break down social barriers in their communities. We create a safe space and nurture meaningful relationships with participants through our style of group facilitation and our commitment to showing up regularly.

COVID-19 has made it temporarily impossible for us to facilitate our drama programs in person. This comes at a time when youth in shelters are particularly in need of human connection and many professional artists have had their livelihoods indefinitely suspended. The need to innovate and adapt is clear.

In response to this challenge, Project: Humanity launched our COVID-19 ARTIST PARTNERSHIP Program (CAPP), which pairs youth in shelters with artists for weekly 1:1 online mentorship sessions in a discipline of their choosing. Our pilot, which has supported the creativity and wellbeing of six youth in shelters and six artist-mentors — through things like poetry, learning guitar and songwriting — is poised to expand.
